Privacy Policy

This notice explains what personal information HealthOp Africa collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.

Last updated: 18 September 2026

1. Who we are

HealthOp Africa ("we", "us", "our") operates https://healthopafrica.com, a platform where healthcare professionals discover events, CPD programmes, training and jobs, and where healthcare organisations publish those opportunities. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at Info@healthopafrica.com or by post at 26 A.E Ekukinam Street, Utako, Abuja, Nigeria.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information — name, email address, password (stored encrypted by our authentication provider), account type, country and city.
  • Professional information — profession, cadre, years of experience, regulatory council and the registration number you choose to provide, and your CV if you upload one.
  • Application and registration data — the jobs you apply to, events you register for, items you save, and the messages generated when you apply through the platform.
  • Payment data — when you pay for a ticket or a paid placement, our payment processor collects your card or bank details directly. We never see or store full card numbers; we keep only the transaction reference, amount, status and what it was for.
  • Messages — anything you send through our contact form or newsletter sign-up.
  • Technical and usage data — IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referring page and similar analytics collected through cookies and comparable technologies.

3. How we use your information

  • To create and operate your account and keep it secure.
  • To let you apply for jobs, register for events, save listings and track your applications.
  • To share your application with the employer or organiser you chose to apply to — this is the whole purpose of applying, and it only happens when you take that action.
  • To process payments, issue tickets and handle refunds or disputes.
  • To review, publish and moderate listings submitted by organisations.
  • To send the newsletter and service emails you have asked for.
  • To measure how the platform is used and improve it.
  • To display advertising, and to detect fraud, abuse and security incidents.

Our legal bases are: performance of a contract with you, your consent (for marketing emails and non-essential cookies), our legitimate interests in running and securing the platform, and compliance with legal obligations.

4. Who we share it with

  • Employers and event organisers — only the profile details, registration number and CV link included in an application or registration you submit to them.
  • Service providers — our hosting, database, authentication, email and analytics providers, and our payment processor, who act on our instructions.
  • Advertising partners — including Google, if and when advertising is enabled on the site. See section 6.
  • Authorities — where we are legally required to disclose information, or to protect our rights and users' safety.

We do not sell your personal data.

5. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to secure forms, plus analytics and (where enabled) advertising cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking necessary cookies will break sign-in. Full detail is in our Cookie Policy.

6. Advertising

We may display advertising on this site, including through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and you can opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices. Third-party advertising partners have their own privacy policies which govern their use of data.

7. How long we keep it

We keep account data for as long as your account is open, and for a reasonable period afterwards to resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. Applications and registrations are kept so you and the employer or organiser retain a record. Transaction records are kept as required by financial and tax rules. Contact messages are kept up to 24 months.

8. Security

Access to your data is restricted by row-level security rules so that account details, saved items, applications and CVs are visible only to you and to the parties you apply to. CVs are stored in private storage and shared as time-limited links. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data.

9. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and the GDPR where it applies, you have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, restrict or object to certain processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Write to Info@healthopafrica.com and we will respond within 30 days. You may also complain to your data protection authority — in Nigeria, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

10. Children

The platform is intended for healthcare professionals, students and organisations aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. International transfers

Our providers may process data on servers outside your country. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this notice. The date at the top shows the latest revision, and material changes will be announced on the site or by email.
